Neon and Zaid walked down to the aisle that Tally was in and helped her put all of the fruits into the bag. Neon placed a can in the bag, slipping in the twinkies too with it.
John started walking down the aisle, calling over his shoulder, “I’m going to go and find some batteries for our flashlights.”
“Okay,” Tally called back, “I think the batteries should be a few aisles to the left.”
“Got it,” John replied as he turned to the left. Soon he found the aisle with the batteries in it and started looking around for the right kinds.
As John was looking through the batteries he heard a low growl behind him. John turned around, several zombies were coming down the aisle towards him. “Fuck”, he muttered and pulled out his shotgun, aiming then shooting. Bam blam bam.
Tally, Zaid, and Neon looked over from where they still were in the fruit aisle. Dropping the fruits, and the twinkies, they ran in the direction the gunshots were coming from.
Zaid spotted a zombie headed towards John, coming from behind. He ran up behind it and before it noticed him he stabbed it in the back of the head. He yanked the knife out, the zombie falling to the ground. Blood splattered out of the wound and dripped down the side of the zombie’s head.
The survivors looked around, several zombies laid on the ground. Blood was now smeared on the tiles of the floor, and some had gotten on the battery racks too.
“Did we get them all?” Tally asked, looking around for any kind of movement.
“There are probably more in here…” John muttered, “This is a supermarket, after all.”
Zaid looked back towards the fruit aisle where they had left their bag in, “True, lets grab our bag and get out of here.”
They walked back towards the door, Tally swerving into the fruit aisle and grabbing their bag as they walked past it.
As Tally was about to leave soft footsteps at the end of the aisle made her turn around to see what was there. She pointed her gun, expecting yet some more zombies. Instead she saw a young girl, no older than eight standing there clutching a battered teddy bear. The girl had dirty yellow ribbons in her hair, and a blue and yellow flower pin. She wore a dark blue skirt and a lighter blue jacket with yellow buttons and lines. Her hair was a brown color and easily hung down past her shoulders. Her eyes were a soft yellowy brown as she gazed up at Tally.
Tally kneeled down, looking at the little girl. “Who’re you?” she said gently, as if not to scare her away.
